Work release is that portion of the Community Release Program that allows selected inmates to work at paid employment in the community during the last months of their confinement.
There are many facilities across the country and none of them do things the same way. We would advise calling there before your arrive to get an exact list of their rules.
Here is a sample "Allowable Item List":
Clothing must be free of lettering and logos. Shirts and sweatshirts can not have hoods. You are required to wear long pants. Socks must be worn with your shower shoes. Clothing allowed in storage container-4 shirts, 4 pants, 4 t-shirts, 4 pairs of socks, 4 pairs of underwear, 2 wash cloths, and 2 pairs of long underwear. Gloves, hat, jacket, work bibs, work boots/shoes are allowed to be stored inside locker in lobby area.
Disposable razor, electric razors or clippers, after-shave, shaving cream (must be original container)
Shampoo/conditioner, gels, non-flammable hair spray, comb, pick, brush
Toothpaste, toothbrush, mouthwash, deodorant, creams, salves, soap, and powder
Q-tips, cotton balls, chap-stick, antacids, cough drops, contact and eye glass care products, cold medications (alcohol free), prescription medication
1 newspaper, 3 books, 3 soft covered game type books, radio/tape/CD player with earphones, 5 tapes/CD's, battery operated book light
Pencils, pens (NO permanent markers), writing paper, school related notebooks, stamps, envelopes
Powder laundry detergent
Makeup, curling irons and hair dryers
NO FOODS, BEVERAGES, SHORTS, GLASS CONTAINERS, TOOLS, ANY ITEMS CONTAINING SD 40 ALCOHOL, BLEACH, MAGAZINES, PALM OR HAND HELD COMPUTERS, OR GAMES CAN BE BROUGHT INTO THE FACILITY. CELL PHONES, PAGERS, TOBACCO PRODUCTS, AND FLAMMABLE DEVICES (MATCHES, LIGHTERS) MUST BE STORED IN LOBBY LOCKER.
PILLOW, MATTRESS, PILLOWCASE, SHEETS, BLANKET, AND TOWELS ARE PROVIDED.
