The BCCI is a low/medium-security detention center located at 17301 US Hwy 301 N Statesboro, GA which is operated locally by the Bulloch County Sheriff's Office and holds inmates awaiting trial or sentencing or both. Most of the sentenced inmates are here for less than two years. Bulloch County accepts inmates from surrounding towns, Statesboro Police Department, and the US Marshal's Service.

New detainees arrive at the jail regularly, with some being released on bail, placed under pretrial services caseloads, supervised by probation agencies, or released on recognizance with a court appearance agreement. Those who are not released await their court appearances at the jail, receiving accommodations including bedding and meals. You can see all the arrest records for Georgia here.

The BCCI serves as a vital facility for housing state inmates under contract with the Georgia Department of Corrections, as well as inmates sentenced by the County. Since its establishment in 1946, BCCI has operated as a work camp primarily for state prisoners and County offenders requiring secure housing.

At BCCI, inmates contribute to the community by providing a labor force for various County departments. This includes supporting public works, solid waste management, the recreation department, facilities maintenance, the agricultural complex, and other departments and agencies as needed.

Utilizing these offenders, BCCI delivers valuable services to the County. Inmates serve as equipment operators for County road maintenance, engage in groundskeeping and maintenance for parks and recreation facilities, maintain agricultural arenas, repair county buildings, upkeep county vehicles and heavy equipment, participate in roadside trash pick-up, facilitate solid waste removal, and provide food service for the county jail.

Overall, BCCI plays a crucial role in not only housing offenders but also in utilizing their labor to support essential County operations and services, contributing positively to the community despite the challenges of incarceration.
