The Calcasieu Parish Jail is a low/medium-security detention center located at 5410 E Broad St Lake Charles, LA which is operated locally by the Calcasieu Parish County Sheriff's Office and holds inmates awaiting trial or sentencing or both. Most of the sentenced inmates are here for less than two years. Calcasieu Parish County accepts inmates from surrounding towns, Lake Charles Police Department, and the US Marshal's Service.

New detainees arrive at the jail regularly, with some being released on bail, placed under pretrial services caseloads, supervised by probation agencies, or released on recognizance with a court appearance agreement. Those who are not released await their court appearances at the jail, receiving accommodations including bedding and meals. You can see all the arrest records for Louisiana here.

The Calcasieu Parish Correctional Center, overseen by the Corrections Division of the Calcasieu Parish Sheriff's Office, stands as a cornerstone of the community's justice system. Comprising the Calcasieu Correctional Center and Calcasieu Sheriff's Prison, with an annex for Women's Correctional Services, these facilities were purposefully constructed to provide essential detention, operational, and related services vital for societal protection. Offering incarceration as a deterrent to crime and serving as a guiding force for incarcerated individuals, the center also assists the judicial system by furnishing evaluation tools and sentencing information.

The Corrections Division extends a diverse array of services to the community, Criminal Justice System, and offenders alike. Community-oriented services focus on education, information dissemination, and reparative support, while logistical support to the Criminal Justice System encompasses the housing and supervision of offenders, provision of sentencing options/reports, and intelligence dissemination. Notably, the division's risk management programs for offenders are tailored to address criminogenic needs, aiming to mitigate the risk of recidivism and foster successful reintegration into society.

Within the Calcasieu Parish Correctional Center, various departments work cohesively to ensure effective operations and comprehensive offender care. The Health Services Unit, overseen by the Calcasieu Parish Police Jury, administers offender health care, including medical, dental, mental health, and chemical dependency services. The Prison Ministry department facilitates opportunities for incarcerated individuals to practice their religious beliefs within the confines of security measures and rehabilitative goals.

Moreover, departments like the Records Department play a pivotal role in offender information management and sentence administration, serving as a vital liaison between the division and courts, attorneys, correction agencies, and law enforcement. The Human Resources Department provides essential consultation and direction regarding personnel policies, workforce planning, and labor relations, ensuring smooth operations within the correctional center.

Recognizing the unique needs of female offenders, the Women's Correctional Services Department has formulated gender-responsive programs akin to those for male counterparts. Additionally, the Offender Education department strives to enhance the academic, vocational, and social skills of offenders, empowering them to become meaningful contributors to the community upon reintegration. Through these concerted efforts, the Calcasieu Parish Correctional Center remains committed to fostering rehabilitation, ensuring public safety, and facilitating positive outcomes for both offenders and the community.
