Located at 124 Suzie Creek Rd in Carlin, NV, Carlin Camp carefully assigns inmates based on their custody level, considering factors like criminal history. Carlin Camp offers diverse educational and vocational programs aimed at equipping offenders for successful reintegration into society and reducing recidivism. Through these initiatives, inmates gain skills and confidence, fostering personal growth and resilience.
Carlin Camp collaborates with the Nevada Division of Forestry (NDF) to train inmates for firefighting crews during fire seasons, while also engaging them in community clean-up and snow removal services during the off-season. The facility offers various programs for inmates, including educational classes leading to GED and high school diploma attainment.
Programs at Carlin Camp encompass vocational training, educational opportunities, and treatment services. A significant portion of Nevada's inmate population lacks a high school diploma, with the objective being to ensure every departing inmate holds a GED or high school diploma. Educational offerings include correctional education covering basic literacy, English as a Second Language (ESL), life skills, GED preparation, vocational training, and traditional high school programs. Completion of required credits and proficiency exams leads to the issuance of Adult High School Diplomas or GED certificates. In 2009, over 5,000 inmates were enrolled in adult education programs.

Vocational training is a key focus, considering that a significant majority of inmates lack adequate job training upon arrival. Various vocational skills are imparted by school districts, colleges, prison industries, and the Nevada Division of Forestry. Training covers a broad spectrum including culinary skills, construction trades, animal science, firefighting, auto mechanics, business management, equipment repair, HVAC installation, welding, computer skills, and more. Additionally, inmates may secure prison jobs providing on-the-job training in roles such as clerks, cooks, janitors, and maintenance workers.
Incentives for inmates include the application of educational credits toward sentence reduction as per Nevada law. Earning certificates, whether educational or vocational, during incarceration can expedite an offender's release date.
