CDOC-Bent County Correctional Facility (BCCF)-CoreCivic operates as a State - medium facility in Las Animas, CO, under contracts with Colorado DOC, Federal Bureau of Prisons, and US Marshal Service. It accommodates inmates from various jurisdictions, categorized by custody level, including work release residents seeking reentry success. Emphasizing inmate rehabilitation, BCCF offers robust educational and vocational programs. Onsite services cover dietary, health, fitness, education, religious practices, and entertainment. The facility upholds high standards for government contracts through regular inspections, vital for its continued operation.

The BCCF, situated 85 miles east of Pueblo, was established by Bent County in 1993 as Colorado's inaugural private correctional facility. CoreCivic acquired the facility from the county in October 1996 and now manages its operations. BCCF operates as a level III facility with a capacity for 1,388 inmates. Predominantly serving medium-custody level inmates, BCCF provides various programs covering basic education, vocational training, mental health support, substance abuse treatment, and reentry initiatives.

Visitation Information

Visiting hours at BCCF are Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays from 10:00 am to 3:50 pm, including holidays. Visitor processing begins at 9:30 am, with a break from 10:00 am to approximately 12:00 pm. Visitors must be processed by 10:00 am to enter the facility; those arriving after 2:00 pm will not be admitted.

To schedule a visit, email bccfvisiting@corecivic.com. In-state visitors may schedule visits up to 14 days in advance, providing the first and last name, date of birth, requested visitation days, and the inmate's first and last name with DOC#. A phone number is required for approval or denial notification.
