Green Bay Correctional Institution (GBCI) is a maximum-security prison in Brown County, WI, housing around 1,100 male inmates across various units, including two 296-bed halls, two dormitories, a 150-bed segregation unit, a transition unit, and a 150-bed mainstream unit, all secured by armed guard towers and razor wire fencing. GBCI participates in Badger State Industries, operating a textile factory producing linens and uniforms. Vocational training covers cabinetry, construction, barbering, graphic arts, painting, and masonry. Educational opportunities encompass adult basic education, literacy, GED classes, and college correspondence courses. Programs include re-entry, parenting, and challenges and responsibility initiatives, along with treatments for alcohol, substance abuse, anger management, and sex offenders.
