Located at 381 W Hospital Dr in Orofino, ID, ICIO carefully assigns inmates based on their custody level, considering factors like criminal history. Originally established as a state school and mental health facility, the ICIO underwent expansion in 1988 with the addition of a new wing. Designed to accommodate up to 580 male residents, ICIO primarily houses medium-custody individuals, along with protective-custody residents. Adjacent to the compound is Givens Hall, which functions as a work camp. ICIO provides various vocational work programs, educational opportunities, and other programming for its residents.
