The Jefferson Co Jail is a low/medium-security detention center located at 5030 Hwy 69 S Beaumont, TX which is operated locally by the Jefferson County Sheriff's Office and holds inmates awaiting trial or sentencing or both. Most of the sentenced inmates are here for less than two years. Jefferson County accepts inmates from surrounding towns, Beaumont Police Department, and the US Marshal's Service.
New detainees arrive at the jail regularly, with some being released on bail, placed under pretrial services caseloads, supervised by probation agencies, or released on recognizance with a court appearance agreement. Those who are not released await their court appearances at the jail, receiving accommodations including bedding and meals. You can see all the arrest records for Texas here.
The Jefferson County Corrections Facility, a short-term institution, is certified by the Texas Commission on Jail Standards, providing a safe and secure environment for inmates under direct supervision. With a focus on education and rehabilitation, the facility aims to break the cycle of criminal behavior leading to recidivism. Educational programs such as Anger Management, GED, and Auto Body Repair are offered to inmates.
The Intake and Releasing Sections of the Jefferson County Sheriff's Office ensure the proper identification, classification, and timely release of inmates. Handling a daily average population of over 800 inmates, all individuals go through a standardized intake process, including search, property logging, medical screening, and booking. After classification based on risk level and other factors, inmates receive medical attention and are housed accordingly.
