Owned and managed by CoreCivic, Inc., the facility has been providing custody for up to 2,706 adult male inmates since its establishment in 2008. La Palma Correctional Center is one among a cluster of prisons in the area owned and operated by CoreCivic, including the Eloy Detention Center, the Red Rock Correctional Center, and the Saguaro Correctional Center.

Programs offered at La Palma Correctional Center encompass various aspects of education, treatment, and self-improvement. In terms of education, inmates participate in Mandatory Literacy programs alongside Adult Basic Education (ABE) and General Education Development (GED) courses.
