Tooele Co Jail is for County Jail offenders sentenced up to twenty four months.

All prisons and jails have Security or Custody levels depending on the inmate’s classification, sentence, and criminal history. Please review the rules and regulations for County - medium facility.

The Tooele Co Jail is a low/medium-security detention center located at 1960 S Main St Tooele, UT which is operated locally by the Tooele County Sheriff's Office and holds inmates awaiting trial or sentencing or both. Most of the sentenced inmates are here for less than two years. Tooele County accepts inmates from surrounding towns, Tooele Police Department, and the US Marshal's Service.

New detainees arrive at the jail regularly, with some being released on bail, placed under pretrial services caseloads, supervised by probation agencies, or released on recognizance with a court appearance agreement. Those who are not released await their court appearances at the jail, receiving accommodations including bedding and meals. You can see all the arrest records for Utah here.

The Tooele Co Jail features 277 total beds; three separate cell pods: (Men’s, Women’s, Medical); Men’s Pod has booking, separate worker dormitories, and maximum, medium, and minimum security units with 217 total beds, and 4 classrooms; Women’s Pod has booking, separate worker dormitories, and maximum/medium, and minimum security units with 60 total beds, and 2 classrooms; Medical Pod has multiple exam, trauma, and mental health rooms, four negative-pressure quarantine cells, a padded cell, a dental suite (equipment isn’t funded yet), and ambulance access; Video Visitation capability; electronic Inmate Commissary Kiosks; 6 total classrooms for drug and alcohol treatment, GED courses, transition training, nondenominational church/bible study, and video arraignment. Correction Officer Features: three separate control rooms; touch-screen door, intercom, and surveillance camera controls; multiple offices, conference room, break room, fitness center with locker rooms, training room, evidence collection room, equipment storage, and staff locker room.

Phone Calls:

  • Inmates cannot receive incoming calls.
  • All inmate outgoing calls are collect. If you have a block on your phone, the inmate may be able to purchase a phone card.
  • Evercom is the company that handles our inmate phone system. If you have any questions you may call them at 1-800-844-6591.
  • Messages cannot be taken for or given to inmates.

Mailing Correspondence to a Prisoner:

  • Inmates may receive mail that has been sent through the U.S. Post Office.
  • Letters must have the sender's full name and complete return address above
  • Please do not write on the envelope cover flap, including the glue line.
  • Padded (foam, plastic bubble, etc.), stiff thick paper, and cardboard mailers are not allowed into the inmate housing area.
  • Please refrain from using return address labels and destination address labels as they are stickers that could potentially cause the mail to be denied. The name and return address must be legible. If we cannot read the name and the address the envelope will be returned to the sender. The postal service may not be able to read it either resulting in dead mail.
  • Tooele County Detention Center accepts completely filled out money orders (must be signed if line provided), official checks and cashier's checks for adding fund to an inmate's account.
  • Because inmates' personal correspondence provides a means of introducing contraband into the facility and conspiring to jeopardize security, safety, order and other legitimate Tooele County Detention Center interest, such mail must be opened and inspected.
  • Books are available through the Jail Library. Should you want to send a specific book to an inmate, it must be directly mailed from a bookstore, publisher or retail outlet. Nothing can be written in or added to the book.
  • No hardback books are accepted.
  • Once the inmate is released or transferred to another facility, the book becomes part of the Tooele County Detention Center Library.
  • Tooele County Detention Center does not forward mail. Mail for inmates no longer incarcerated at Tooele County Detention Center will be returned to the sender.

Commissary:

  • Personal hygiene items cannot be brought into the jail and must be purchased through commissary.
  • Inmates have the opportunity to basic hygiene when they are initially booked in and then can order once a week thereafter. Commissary is delivered twice a week, orders must be in by Tuesday to be delivered on Wednesday. Orders placed prior to Saturday will be delivered on Sunday.
  • There is a $40 limit on a commissary order.

Tooele County Detention Center - Visitation

The visitation program, implemented by the Detention Center, will be provided courtesy of iWebVisit.com. This new technology remote Video Visitation will offer increased remote visiting hours and visiting frequency with the convenience of seven-day availability. the Tooele County Detention Center is proud to offer this service and is dedicated to helping connect loved ones from around the world to those entrusted in our custody.

Visitation Program Rules

FOR ON-SITE VISITS ONLY

  • On-site visits can be scheduled Monday through Friday 9:00 AM to 4:00 PM depending on where the inmate is currently housed.
  • On the day you want to visit, call at 8:30 AM to schedule the visit for that day.

You must be over the age of 18 years old with a valid ID in order to register via the Lobby method. A documented legal guardian must accompany any minor requesting to visit with an inmate. Additional, multiple visitors can register for the same inmate via the Lobby method.

Once you are registered, you will receive an e-mail (if one was provided at the time of registration) welcoming you to the iWebVisit.com Remote Video Visitation System. At this time you will be provided with further instructions and information about the benefits of remotely visiting your loved one.

The Visitation Rules and Regulations for an On-site Terminal reservation is subject to the following policies and procedures:

Engaging in illegal or illicit (to include disrobing and/or sexual behavior) will result in the visit being terminated. This visitor will be blocked from any further visits to any inmate confined in the Tooele County Detention Center with the visitor being subject to criminal prosecution. The inmate may also e charged with violation of the visiting rules and may have their visiting privileges terminated for the duration of their incarceration.

Visitors must dress appropriately; all clothing must cover from neck to the kneecaps.

Should the conduct of any person during a visit become disorderly the visit will be terminated.

Persons under the influence of drugs and/or alcohol will be denied a visit and must leave the building.

Any unattended children will cause the visit to be terminated.

iWebVisit.com offers up close and personal Jail Video Visits that will help you save time, travel and money. It offers you, family and friends virtually unobstructed access to each other using computing technology for inmate visitation.

ALL REMOTE VISITS MUST BE SCHEDULED AT LEAST ONE (1) DAY IN ADVANCE WHILE ALLOWING YOU TO SCHEDULE UP TO THREE (3) WEEKS IN ADVANCE. VISITS MAY NOT BE SCHEDULED ON THE SAME DAY AS THE INTENDED VISIT. THESE RULES APPLY TO PROFESSIONAL VISITORS AS WELL.

In order to visit REMOTELY you will need the following:

  • Webcam
  • Headset

Once you have determined you have the proper equipment, simply go to www.iWebVisit.com to set up an account and schedule the time and day you want to visit.

  • Remote visiting frequencies are determined by the Detention Center and have a daily and/or weekly/monthly cap.
  • For standard visitors, the cost is $12.00 first visit of each month and $10 every other visit. The cost is $25.00 per visit for qualified professionals. After registering an account on-line (or in person), Attorneys, Clergy, or other qualified professionals may request a "Confidential Status" for their account by arriving at the facility in person (or by phone and fax if outside of the area) to provide credentials, which will prohibit future visits from being monitored or recorded.
  • Visiting may be canceled at anytime.
  • Once a visit has started and is canceled or terminated by the facility a credit voucher will not be issued.
