The Whitley Co Jail is a detention center located at 101 W Market St Columbus City, IN which is operated locally by the Whitley County Sheriff's Office and holds inmates awaiting trial or sentencing or both. Most of the sentenced inmates are here for less than two years. Whitley County accepts inmates from surrounding towns, Columbus City Police Department, and the US Marshal's Service.

New detainees arrive at the jail regularly, with some being released on bail, placed under pretrial services caseloads, supervised by probation agencies, or released on recognizance with a court appearance agreement. INMATE VISITING SCHEDULE

  • Visitation is on Saturday.
  • Visitors under the age of 18 are only allowed on the first Saturday of the month.
  • You must have a valid photo identification to visit an inmate.

Visitation time is based on the cell block the inmate is housed in:

  • A Block and the Holding Cells (R1, R2, R3, R4) - 8:00 am
  • B Block - 9:00 am
  • C Block - 10:00 am
  • D Block - 1:00 pm
  • Trustees - 7:00 pm
  • E Block - 6:00 pm
  • G Block - 3:00 pm
  • H Block - 2:00 pm
