The Lon Evans Corrections is a detention center located at 600 W Weatherford St Ft. Worth, TX which is operated locally by the Tarrant County Sheriff's Office and holds inmates awaiting trial or sentencing or both. Most of the sentenced inmates are here for less than two years. Tarrant County accepts inmates from surrounding towns, Ft. Worth Police Department, and the US Marshal's Service.

New detainees arrive at the jail regularly, with some being released on bail, placed under pretrial services caseloads, supervised by probation agencies, or released on recognizance with a court appearance agreement. Those who are not released await their court appearances at the jail, receiving accommodations including bedding and meals. You can see all the arrest records for Texas here.

Constructed as a response to the burgeoning inmate population, the Lon Evans Corrections Center plays a crucial role in managing more dangerous offenders in a high/maximum security facility built to complement the functions of the Tarrant County Corrections Center. Its strategic design, characterized by postmodernist architectural elements such as buff-colored bricks and cast stone accents, reflects a commitment to both functionality and aesthetics.

Comprising thirteen floors, Lon Evans boasts a layout optimized for efficiency and security. Four jail pods, strategically positioned at each corner, provide segregated housing for inmates, while an outdoor recreational facility nestled between the eastern and western sections serves as a vital space for inmate well-being.

Connectivity infrastructure further enhances the center's operational capabilities, with a skyway on the fifth floor linking it seamlessly to the TCCC. Additionally, an underground tunnel network facilitates convenient access to key judicial facilities such as the Tim Curry Justice Center and the City/County Jail, underscoring the center's integration within the broader criminal justice system.

Despite its architectural grandeur and functional prowess, the Corrections Center has not been immune to challenges. Overcrowding concerns prompted its construction, reflecting the ongoing complexities of managing a growing inmate population.
