The Chilton Co Jail is a detention center located at 301 City St Clanton, AL which is operated locally by the Chilton County Sheriff's Office and holds inmates awaiting trial or sentencing or both. Most of the sentenced inmates are here for less than two years. Chilton County accepts inmates from surrounding towns, Clanton Police Department, and the US Marshal's Service.
New detainees arrive at the jail regularly, with some being released on bail, placed under pretrial services caseloads, supervised by probation agencies, or released on recognizance with a court appearance agreement. The Corrections Division of the Chilton County Sheriff’s Office is commanded by Captain Trae Barfield and Assistant Warden Ann Davis who is responsible for the Care, Custody and Control of the inmates housed here. The Facility is a 212-bed facility that houses local, county and state inmates of both pre-trial and convicted status. The jail is staffed by 25 highly trained correctional officers.
Line Officers and First-line Supervisors work 12-hour shifts for 24-hour coverage. Jail staff utilizes state-of-the-art video surveillance systems, telephones, intercoms, radios, computerized jail management, and fingerprint systems.
Inmates are received and released 24 hours a day 365 days per year from the facility. Inmate care provided includes on-site medical, dental, and mental health services. General Population inmates are allotted one 30-minute visit per week. Disciplinary action or classification may affect visitation and/or telephone privileges. The inmate Commissary and telephone systems are provided by outside vendors.
