The Crisp County Detention Center is a detention center located at 196 Hwy 300 S Rehab Rd Cordele, GA which is operated locally by the Crisp County Sheriff's Office and holds inmates awaiting trial or sentencing or both. Most of the sentenced inmates are here for less than two years. Crisp County accepts inmates from surrounding towns, Cordele Police Department, and the US Marshal's Service.

New detainees arrive at the jail regularly, with some being released on bail, placed under pretrial services caseloads, supervised by probation agencies, or released on recognizance with a court appearance agreement. Mail Services

Inmate Mail Rules

All incoming and outgoing mail to inmates, with the exception of legal mail, must be in pre-stamped or metered form. This change is being implemented to ensure the safety and security of jail facilities, inmates and staff.

Acceptable Postcards

• - Stamps are NOT allowed, postcards must be metered or have a pre-printed stamp.
• - Must be addressed to: Inmate’s full name and ID number, Facility name and address.
• - Minimum size requirements are 3.5 inches by 4.25 inches.
• - Maximum allowable postcard size is 4.25 inches by 6 inches.
• - Should be written in BLUE or BLACK INK ONLY.
• - Postcards must be white in color and are available at any United States Post Office.

Unacceptable Postcards

• - Defaced or altered Postcards.
• - No plastic or wrappings on Postcards.
• - Postcards marked with paint, crayons or markers.
• - Postcards with labels or stickers.
• - Postcards with watermarks or stains.
• - Postcards with any biohazards, including perfumes or lipstick.
• - Postcards depicting nudity, weapons or gang references.
• - Postcards containing an affixed stamp.

Legal mail – Will be checked for contraband only and must be in official envelopes.

Money – All money orders / certified checks should continue to be mailed to accounting.

- Envelopes containing additional correspondence will be returned to sender.

Send Money to an Inmate

All inmates are allowed money to be put on their inmate's account to be used for commissary call. There are a couple of ways that inmates can receive money.

• You may bring the money in person to the Detention Center. Only cash will be accepted in person at the Detention Center (no money orders). There is a kiosk in the front lobby that you can deposit the money into and it will be automatically be added to their account.
• You may mail the money to the inmate via the US Mail to be added to their account. (Please note that if you send a money order this way there will be a $2.00 service fee for processing of the money order)
• You may also go online and add the money to their account by visiting www.commissarydeposit.com.

PHOTOGRAPHS – NO POLAROID PICTURES!

• - Up to (4) photographs may be mailed to the jail, after the inmate has been incarcerated for a minimum of 30 days provided the envelope is clearly marked PHOTOGRAPHS.
• - There may not be any other thing in the envelope except for pictures.
• - Every 90 days, (4) more new photos may be sent to the inmate.
• - Photographs may NOT be larger than 4 inches by 6 inches.
• - The inmate name and ID number must be written on the back of the photograph. Nothing else is to be written on the photographs.
• - Photographs must be unaltered, and may not contain any adhesives, such as stickers or labels.
• - Photographs must not depict sexual activity, visibly expose the breast, pubic area or buttocks, contain gang signs or codes or promote or show illegal activity.
• - Envelopes containing additional inmate correspondence will be returned to sender.

Inmate Labor Detail

The Inmate Labor Detail is made up of low-risk inmates who provide a great service to Crisp County by completing clean-up and maintenance projects, under the supervision of Deputy Sheriffs. Additionally, inmate labor is utilized within the detention facility kitchen, laundry, and perform facility cleaning and maintenance upkeep. During 2017, these inmates contributed more than 41,000 labor hours to Crisp County. Figuring at minimum wage, these services saved local taxpayers an estimated $325,926.

The inmates selected for the work crews are carefully screened. They must have a history free of violent crime convictions and must be model inmates who are determined to be low escape risks, and who are nearing the end of their sentence. The experience they gain includes teamwork, following instructions, handling power equipment, forestry skills, and developing a work ethic. Our goal is for the inmate laborers to improve not only the conditions of our roads and forests, but also to gain skills that will help them to be productive citizens once they are released.
