The Apalachee Correctional Institution, East Unit, is a state prison operated by the Florida Department of Corrections (FDC), with a capacity to house 1,169 adult male inmates. The facility provides various programs and services aimed at education, vocational training, and institutional betterment to support the rehabilitation and reintegration of its population. It is adjacent to the Apalachee Correctional Institution, West Unit which houses 680 adult male inmates.

In terms of academic offerings, the institution provides Adult Basic Education and General Educational Development (GED) programs to enhance the educational qualifications of inmates. Additionally, literacy programs, including the Modified Literacy Program (MLP), are available to improve inmates' reading and writing skills. Pre-GED and GED testing services are also provided to assess and certify inmates' educational achievements.

Vocational programs offered at the Apalachee CI, East Unit, include Cabinetmaking, providing inmates with practical skills and training in woodworking and furniture construction.

Chaplaincy services at the institution encompass Anger Resolution sessions, Bill Gothard Seminars, Experiencing God workshops, and Financial Freedom programs, catering to inmates' spiritual and personal development needs.

Institutional betterment programs focus on promoting positive behavioral change and personal growth among inmates. These programs include Anger Management courses, Compass 100 programming aimed at enhancing life skills and decision-making abilities, and Certificate Programs recognizing inmates' achievements and accomplishments. Visitation Information

Regular visiting is held on Saturdays and Sundays from 9:00 a.m. through 3:00 p.m. Eastern Standard Time (8:00 a.m. through 2:00 p.m. Central Standard Time). Registration begins at 8:15 a.m. (7:15 a.m. CST) on both days. Visitors will not be processed after 2:00 p.m. (1:00 p.m. CST) unless authorized by the duty warden. Visitors will be allowed to park in designated spaces no earlier than 7:30 a.m. EST and 6:30 a.m. CST on visiting days.
Regular visiting is permitted on the following holidays:
• New Year's Day
• Birthday of Martin Luther King, Jr. (third Monday in January)
• Memorial Day
• Independence Day
• Labor Day
• Veteran's Day (November 11th)
• Thanksgiving Day
• Friday after Thanksgiving; and
• Christmas Day
If any of the holidays listed above falls on Saturday, the preceding Friday will be observed as a holiday. If any of these holidays fall on Sunday, then the following Monday will be observed as the holiday
