The Troup Co Jail is a low/medium-security detention center located at 130 Sam Walker Dr LaGrange, GA which is operated locally by the Troup County Sheriff's Office and holds inmates awaiting trial or sentencing or both. Most of the sentenced inmates are here for less than two years. Troup County accepts inmates from surrounding towns, LaGrange Police Department, and the US Marshal's Service.

New detainees arrive at the jail regularly, with some being released on bail, placed under pretrial services caseloads, supervised by probation agencies, or released on recognizance with a court appearance agreement. Those who are not released await their court appearances at the jail, receiving accommodations including bedding and meals. You can see all the arrest records for Georgia here.

The Jail Division, overseen by the Jail Administrator, plays a crucial role in providing a secure environment for inmates awaiting their court proceedings. Its primary function is to house inmates safely while ensuring their well-being. This responsibility extends to inmates awaiting hearings in both State and Superior courts, as well as those from all three municipalities in Troup County.

Preventing escapes and the introduction of contraband into the facility is a top priority for the Jail Division, as it aims to safeguard the community's citizens. Operating around the clock, seven days a week, the Troup County Jail is staffed by 58 Jail Officers who ensure the facility's smooth functioning. Each shift is supervised by a Sergeant, responsible for overseeing daily operations within the jail.

Within the Jail, several areas cater to inmates' needs, including meal services, medical and dental care, and access to the commissary. Annually, over 3000 inmates are processed through the Jail Division, with an average daily population of 380 inmates. This demonstrates the significant role played by the Jail Division in the criminal justice system and its commitment to maintaining security and providing essential services to inmates.
