Located at 8662 US Hwy 301 N in Claxton, GA, Womens PDC carefully assigns inmates based on their custody level, considering factors like criminal history. Womens PDC offers diverse educational and vocational programs aimed at equipping offenders for successful reintegration into society and reducing recidivism. Through these initiatives, inmates gain skills and confidence, fostering personal growth and resilience.

The Women's PDC stands as a pioneering institution within Georgia's criminal justice system, providing a specialized environment for female offenders who require structured supervision and support beyond regular community supervision. Established in 1992 on a six-acre property, it was the state's first detention center dedicated to female offenders. The center's operational ethos, "Women Working," emphasizes a holistic approach to rehabilitation, combining rehabilitative programs, community service, self-discipline, and labor to foster self-confidence, independence, and respect.

The primary mission of the Women's Probation Detention Center is to offer a sanctioning option for probationers needing additional security or supervision. With a highly structured setting and regimented schedules, the center aims to equip offenders with the necessary skills and resources to succeed in the community. Through supervised, unpaid work in surrounding communities and tailored programming, the center endeavors to empower offenders to become productive and law-abiding citizens.

Housing at the Women's PDC consists of four open dormitories equipped with bunk beds, providing a safe and conducive living environment for residents. The dormitory setup promotes camaraderie among inmates while maintaining order and discipline within the facility.

Offenders at the Women's PDC engage in various work details both within the facility and in the surrounding communities. Detail assignments include tasks for local government entities such as the Cities of Claxton, Pembroke, and Richmond Hill, as well as the Bryan County Recreation Department and school systems in Evans and Tattnall Counties. Additionally, special projects and restoration efforts contribute to community development and restoration initiatives.

The center offers a range of programs aimed at addressing the educational, counseling, and recreational needs of its residents. Academic offerings include General Education Diploma (GED) and Adult Basic Education programs to enhance literacy and academic skills. Counseling services cover a wide range of topics, including pre-release preparation, re-entry support, women's health issues, mental health, and substance abuse recovery through programs like Alcoholics Anonymous/Narcotics Anonymous. Recreational activities provide residents with opportunities for relaxation and personal development.

Religious activities, such as worship services and Bible study, are also available to support residents' spiritual well-being and moral development.

In collaboration with Smith State Prison, the Women's Probation Detention Center plays a crucial role in facilitating the rehabilitation and successful reintegration of female offenders into society, promoting positive behavioral change and community engagement.
