DSSIP is for State Prison offenders sentenced anywhere from one year to life by the State Court in the county where the charges were filed
All prisons and jails have Security or Custody levels depending on the inmate’s classification, sentence, and criminal history. Please review the rules and regulations for State - minimum facility.

Located at 979 State Hwy 146 W in Golconda, IL, DSSIP carefully assigns inmates based on their custody level, considering factors like criminal history. DSSIP offers diverse educational and vocational programs aimed at equipping offenders for successful reintegration into society and reducing recidivism. Through these initiatives, inmates gain skills and confidence, fostering personal growth and resilience.
The DSSIP represents a vital component of the Illinois Department of Corrections' approach to rehabilitation, offering eligible offenders a unique opportunity for sentence reduction and reintegration into society. Functioning as a boot camp, DSSIP provides a structured and disciplined environment where participants undergo intensive programming designed to promote personal growth and positive behavioral change. Approved by sentencing courts and accepted by the department, participants who complete the program requirements stand to have their sentences reduced to time served, followed by a term of mandatory supervised release.
Operating as a satellite facility of the Vienna Correctional Center, DSSIP focuses on delivering a range of programs aimed at addressing the underlying issues contributing to criminal behavior and facilitating successful reentry into the community. Academic offerings include Adult Basic Education (ABE) and General Education Development (GED) courses, providing participants with opportunities to enhance their literacy and educational attainment. Additionally, the program offers substance abuse counseling, anger management, life skills training, and drug education, equipping individuals with the tools and resources necessary to address behavioral challenges and make positive life changes.
Recognizing the importance of spiritual and community support, DSSIP also provides volunteer services, particularly in the realm of religious engagement. These services offer participants opportunities for reflection, guidance, and connection with faith-based communities, contributing to their overall well-being and personal development. By combining academic, therapeutic, and spiritual components within a structured and supportive environment, the Dixon Springs Structured Impact Program endeavors to empower participants to break the cycle of criminal behavior, embrace positive change, and successfully reintegrate into society as law-abiding citizens.
DSSIP maintains a database of current inmates and their locations within the system. To locate an inmate, begin by using the DOC locator tool, which requires entering the first three letters of the inmate's first and last name, allowing for variations in spelling.
If unable to locate the desired information through free resources, users may opt to use the Arrest Record Search, which requires payment. While this option incurs a small fee, it provides access to the most up-to-date data available.
IDOC Visitation Rules and Information -- please review before visiting
Visitors to any correctional facility will be required to produce photo identification and verification of date of birth. Please be sure to bring 2 forms of identification with you; these would include a current photo ID such as a driver's license, a state ID card, a government ID card, military ID/driver's license, or acceptable documentation of non-U.S. citizenship including a current Passport, or Visa, documentation must contain the visitor's date of birth. Expired forms of identification will not be accepted. Visitors will also be required to provide vehicle information and other pertinent data, such as government identification, official credentials, attorney registration, and or law student certification.
Visits are limited to immediate family members ONLY. Immediate family members include mother, father grandparents, spouse, children, and siblings, including step-relations. Due to space no more than 3 persons may visit at any one time.
1:30 p.m. - 4:00 p.m. Saturday, Sunday, and Holidays
Visits last no longer than 2 hours.
All visits must be pre-approved.
No visitor shall be admitted beginning one hour before the end of visiting hours.
