IYC-Chicago is for State Juvenile offenders have not been sentenced yet and are detained here until their case is heard.
All prisons and jails have Security or Custody levels depending on the inmate’s classification, sentence, and criminal history. Please review the rules and regulations for State juvenile low facility.

IYC Chicago, situated on the west side of the city, serves as a vital institution for youth rehabilitation and development. Recognizing the importance of maintaining a safe and supportive environment, the staff undergoes ongoing training in behavioral management and de-escalation techniques, ensuring the well-being of both staff and residents.
At IYC Chicago, individualized programming lies at the heart of the facility's approach to youth rehabilitation. The center offers a comprehensive range of services tailored to meet the diverse needs of each youth, including academic support for GED and high school diploma attainment, in-patient substance abuse treatment programs, and mental health services. Medical services are also provided to address any physical health needs.
In addition to core services, leisure time activities are offered to promote recreation and personal development among the youth. These activities not only provide a constructive outlet for the residents but also contribute to their overall well-being.
Family engagement is prioritized at IYC Chicago, with programming designed to strengthen relationships between youth and their families. Parenting groups and family engagement initiatives help foster positive connections, which are essential for successful reintegration into the community upon release.
Volunteer services play a crucial role in enhancing the programming offered at the center. From religious services to musical theatre workshops and therapeutic canine companionship programs, volunteers provide valuable support and enrichment opportunities for the youth. Some volunteer programs even extend to off-site activities, broadening the scope of experiences available to the residents.

Juvenile facilities overseen by the State of Illinois do not publish the names of the offenders housed in their facility. As such, there is no public forum for this information.

On the first visit to any Illinois Youth Center, the visitors will be required to have photo identification, such as a driver's license, a state identification card, or acceptable documentation of non-US citizen including a current passport, Visa, or Matricula, and documentation that includes their social security numbers if US citizens, and date of birth.
Please have two forms of identification; one should be a photo ID for additional visits.
Visitation:
Thursday 6:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m., Friday 6:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m., and Saturday, Sunday, and Holidays 10:30 a.m. - 4:30 p.m.
Special visiting hours can be arranged on weekdays through casework supervisors and administrative staff.
