Located at 4387 W M-80 in Kincheloe, MI, KTF carefully assigns inmates based on their custody level, considering factors like criminal history. The Straits CF, consolidated with Chippewa Correctional Facility on August 9, 2009, operates as a Level II security facility for male inmates aged 18 and older. Comprising four buildings, the facility accommodates eight separate housing units, each capable of housing 140 prisoners, totaling 1,120 inmates. Essential facilities include administration, health services, maintenance, food service, a program/school building, and a Michigan State Industries laundry and garment factory staffed by prisoners.
