Located at 34625 26 Mile Rd in New Haven, MI, MRF carefully assigns inmates based on their custody level, considering factors like criminal history. MRF offers diverse educational and vocational programs aimed at equipping offenders for successful reintegration into society and reducing recidivism. Through these initiatives, inmates gain skills and confidence, fostering personal growth and resilience.
The MCF, established in 1993, is designated for male inmates aged 18 and older and encompasses security levels I, II, and IV, with a capacity to house up to 1,416 prisoners.
Situated on a 100-acre site, the facility comprises 11 major buildings and two minor buildings, collectively spanning approximately 300,000 square feet. Among these structures are four Level II housing units, two Level IV housing units, and one Level I housing unit located outside the secure perimeter. Additionally, four buildings house a school, administrative offices, support services, and storage facilities.
Educational programming at Macomb Correctional Facility includes offerings such as Special Education, General Education Development preparation, Adult Basic Education, and vocational classes aimed at equipping inmates with valuable skills for their reintegration into society.
The facility places emphasis on community engagement and actively collaborates with local community groups, fostering volunteer participation to enhance rehabilitative efforts.
Healthcare services at the facility encompass routine medical and dental care provided on-site. In cases of major medical emergencies, prisoners are transferred to a community hospital or to the Duane L. Waters Health Center in Jackson. Moreover, the facility offers a Residential Treatment Program tailored to prisoners requiring a residential setting for mental health treatment.
Security measures at Macomb Correctional Facility include a robust perimeter encircled by two 12-foot galvanized chain-link fences topped with coiled stainless steel razor wire. A third fence, also 12 feet high and topped with coiled stainless steel razor wire, serves as a buffer between the prison property and the perimeter road. The entire perimeter of the prison property is demarcated with signage indicating "Prison Property" and "Do Not Enter." Furthermore, the facility is equipped with an electronic detection and camera system to bolster public safety measures.
MRF maintains a database of current inmates and their locations within the system. To locate an inmate, begin by using the DOC locator tool, which requires entering the first three letters of the inmate's first and last name, allowing for variations in spelling.
If unable to locate the desired information through free resources, users may opt to use the Arrest Record Search, which requires payment. While this option incurs a small fee, it provides access to the most up-to-date data available.
