Located in Santa Rosa, NM, GCCF operates as a private contractor with various government agency agreements providing state-minimum custody requirements. Programs are offered to all custody levels, including work release residents focused on reentry success. The GCCF nestled just two miles southwest of Santa Rosa this facility is meticulously managed and operated by the New Mexico Corrections Department (NMCD) under a lease agreement with GEO, ensuring the adherence to strict standards and protocols.

With its imposing presence, the GCCF spans an impressive 191,400 square feet, meticulously designed to comply with the American Correctional Association (ACA) regulations. Enclosed within a formidable double-fenced security perimeter, the facility utilizes advanced technology such as microwave intrusion detection and round-the-clock vehicle patrol to ensure utmost security.

The architecture of the GCCF is a testament to its multifaceted purpose. The sprawling complex boasts a myriad of buildings, each serving a crucial function in the day-to-day operations. From the administration and visitation building to the education and library complex, from the kitchen, laundry, and dining facilities to the industries building, every structure plays a vital role in the facility's functioning. Additionally, the GCCF houses an intake, release, and medical building, ensuring the comprehensive management of inmates' needs.

Within the complex, inmates are accommodated in various housing units, including a double-celled medium-security unit, a county detention area, and a single-celled Restrictive Housing unit. The segregation of inmates into these units facilitates efficient management and allows for tailored approaches to rehabilitation.

The construction of the GCCF commenced in 1997, marking the beginning of its journey toward becoming a cornerstone of the correctional system. By January 1999, the facility welcomed its first cohort of inmates, embarking on its mission to maintain public safety and promote the well-being of both employees and inmates.

In alignment with its commitment to rehabilitation, the GCCF offers a range of vocational workshops aimed at equipping inmates with valuable skills for their reintegration into society. These workshops cover various fields, including maintenance, culinary arts, and other vocational trades, providing inmates with opportunities for personal growth and development.
