Located in Clayton, NM, NENMDF operates as a private contractor with various government agency agreements providing state-minimum custody requirements. Programs are offered to all custody levels, including work release residents focused on reentry success. With a strong emphasis on rehabilitation, NENMDF provides comprehensive educational and vocational opportunities. (GEO) for the New Mexico Department of Corrections (NMCD), prioritizes maintaining the highest standards of corrections to ensure public safety. At Northeast New Mexico Detention Facility, a comprehensive range of programs and services is offered to inmates. These include recreation, volunteer and religious programs, security measures, educational opportunities, counseling and mental health services, food provision, commissary services, and access to libraries. Additionally, a 10,600-square-foot state industries program is available to inmates, promoting skill development and vocational training. Third-party providers deliver psychiatric, medical, and dental services to ensure comprehensive healthcare coverage.

The facility comprises two housing buildings, an administration building, and a support building housing various essential amenities such as visitation areas, education and library facilities, kitchens, laundry facilities, industries workshops, medical facilities, and a gymnasium. Moreover, maintenance and prison industries areas are integral components of the facility, contributing to its smooth operation. Family visitation units are also provided to facilitate connections between inmates and their loved ones.

Spanning an impressive 179,624 square feet, the Northeast New Mexico Correctional Facility is situated on 15 acres of land, conveniently located just four miles southeast of Clayton, NM. Designated as Level III, the facility is owned by the Town of Clayton and was constructed in 2007. In August 2008, it welcomed its first cohort of inmates, marking the commencement of its vital role in the correctional system.

IMPORTANT BEFORE VISIT - To visit an inmate, you must be on the approved visitation list.

Video visitation will remain available for approved visitors and all eligible inmates. For information on setting up a video visit, please contact the facility directly.
