The Tygart Regional Jail is a low/medium-security detention center located at 400 Abbey Rd Belington, WV which is operated locally by the Barbour Regional Authority and holds inmates awaiting trial or sentencing or both. Most of the sentenced inmates have been here for less than five years. Tygart Regional Jail accepts inmates from the Barbour County Sheriff's arrests and surrounding towns, Belington Police Department, and the US Marshal's Service.

New detainees arrive at the jail regularly, with some being released on bail, placed under pretrial services caseloads, supervised by probation agencies, or released on recognizance with a court appearance agreement. The Tygart Valley Regional Jail, servicing Barbour, Pocahontas, Preston, Randolph, Taylor, Tucker, and Upshur counties, is situated off the Coalton/Norton exit of Route 33, approximately seven miles west of Elkins. Established in June 2005, it primarily accommodates the state's female inmates awaiting transfer to prison.

Family and friends of WV Division of Corrections inmates can deposit money into inmate trust fund accounts via phone or online platforms like ConnectNetwork.com or Jailatm.com. The facility also offers the Accelerated Parole Program to eligible inmates with a parole eligibility date, excluding those convicted of specific offenses such as violent crimes, firearm-related felonies, crimes against minors, or offenses resulting in death. Additionally, inmates with certain drug-related convictions or those incarcerated due to parole revocation for a new felony conviction are ineligible for the program.

All visits will be scheduled via a phone call to the visitation line 304-637-0264 between the hours of 7:30 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. in accordance with the schedule below.

Time slots will be filled on a first-call-first-filled basis, time slots may be requested pending availability.

Inmates can only have one (1) scheduled visit per day on the visitation days.

Visitors under the age of 18 must be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian, or submit a notarized statement from the parent or legal guardian authorizing the visit. Only non-incarcerated parents or legal guardians may authorize juvenile visitation. If not accompanied by a parent or legal guardian the visitor must be accompanied by an authorized adult visitor and must have a signed, notarized
