The Washoe Co Jail is a detention center located at 911 Parr Blvd Reno, NV which is operated locally by the Washoe County Sheriff's Office and holds inmates awaiting trial or sentencing or both. Most of the sentenced inmates are here for less than two years. Washoe County accepts inmates from surrounding towns, Reno Police Department, and the US Marshal's Service.
New detainees arrive at the jail regularly, with some being released on bail, placed under pretrial services caseloads, supervised by probation agencies, or released on recognizance with a court appearance agreement. Those who are not released await their court appearances at the jail, receiving accommodations including bedding and meals. You can see all the arrest records for Nevada here.
The Washoe County Sheriff’s Office oversees the sole adult detention facility for pretrial detainees in Washoe County, accepting individuals from over thirty law enforcement agencies, including local, state, and federal entities. With an average daily inmate population of 1044 in 2013, the Sheriff’s Office implements innovative programs to reduce this number, including court-sponsored pretrial releases and community-based work programs.
The facility houses units specifically designed to accommodate inmates with special needs, staffed by Mental Health workers and Sheriff’s Deputies with specialized Crisis Intervention Training. Recognized as one of the first direct-supervision detention facilities in the nation, the Washoe County Detention Facility serves as a model for jails across the United States, often cited by governmental agencies planning new jail constructions.
For inquiries regarding detainees housed at the facility, individuals may contact (775) 328-3001 between 8 a.m. and 4 p.m., providing the necessary biographical information. Urgent messages for detainees can be left by calling (775) 328-3308 and providing the detainee’s full name, alien registration number, and the caller's contact information.
