The WCCC is a low/medium-security detention center located at 2201 Hogback Rd Ann Arbor, MI which is operated locally by the Washtenaw County Sheriff's Office and holds inmates awaiting trial or sentencing or both. Most of the sentenced inmates are here for less than two years. Washtenaw County accepts inmates from surrounding towns, Ann Arbor Police Department, and the US Marshal's Service.
New detainees arrive at the jail regularly, with some being released on bail, placed under pretrial services caseloads, supervised by probation agencies, or released on recognizance with a court appearance agreement. Those who are not released await their court appearances at the jail, receiving accommodations including bedding and meals. You can see all the arrest records for Michigan here.
Washtenaw County Jail actively collaborates with various community agencies to offer alternative sanctioning options for offenders. One such initiative is the Drug & Alcohol Random Testing (DART) Program, administered by WCCC. Upon referral from participating agencies or courts, both pretrial and sentenced clients undergo drug testing facilitated by Community Corrections.
Jail-based programs are another integral component of Community Corrections efforts. These programs enable eligible inmates to earn early release by engaging in designated programming within the jail setting.
A significant focus of Community Corrections is its Pre-Trial Program, which has been established in Washtenaw County through state grant funding. This initiative involves a Pretrial Risk Assessment process designed to enhance the efficiency and fairness of pretrial procedures.
Additionally, Community Corrections oversees Tether Programs, which encompass electronic monitoring for both pretrial and sentenced clients. Utilizing various tether systems, including those equipped for alcohol monitoring, Community Corrections provides effective supervision and monitoring solutions tailored to individual needs and circumstances.
Through these diverse programs and partnerships, Washtenaw County Community Corrections endeavors to promote rehabilitation, accountability, and community safety while offering meaningful alternatives to traditional incarceration.
