No cellphones, you will be searched before visiting. NO personal belongings. Persons under probation, parole, or other community corrections supervision must obtain the permission of both their individual supervising officer and the superintendent prior to a visit. Such visitation is not normally approved.

If the visitor is under the age of 18 and is a family member of the inmate, they must be accompanied by an adult family member or guardian to include a member of the inmate's extended family. If the visitor is under the age of 18 and is not a family member of the inmate, the minor visitor must be accompanied by a parent or guardian.

General Visitation Information

New River Valley Regional Jail - Visitation

The New River Valley Regional Jail encourages inmates to maintain contact with their friends and family through regular visits. Video Visitation is the method of visitation used for all regular visits, and visits must be scheduled in advance.

Inmates complete a visitation form and select up to four persons (to include children) to be authorized to visit them during their scheduled visitation time.

Children 17 years of age and under must be accompanied by a parent and/or legal guardian at all times. Children 15 years of age and under do not have to be on the visitor's list.

Important: Visitors must be signed in at least 15 minutes prior to the scheduled visitation time. Late arrivals will not be allowed to visit. Visitors need to bring a picture ID for visitor identity verification.

DRESS CODE - NRVRJ has adopted a dress code policy for those who come to the facility for the purpose of visiting inmates.

Clothing that is NOT permitted to be worn by visitors includes, but is not limited to:

  • NO TANK TOPS of any kind-including spaghetti straps, tube tops, and halters.
  • NO SKIRTS, SHORTS, or DRESSES above the knee.
  • NO articles of clothing with ANY obscene gestures or language.
  • NO see-through items of ANY kind. (be careful when wearing white)
  • NO undergarments of ANY kind are to be exposed.

Violations of these rules will result in a terminated visit.
