Located at 10000 S Wilmot Rd in Tucson, AZ, ADCRR Tucson-Santa Rita carefully assigns inmates based on their custody level, considering factors like criminal history. ADCRR Tucson-Santa Rita offers diverse educational and vocational programs aimed at equipping offenders for successful reintegration into society and reducing recidivism. Through these initiatives, inmates gain skills and confidence, fostering personal growth and resilience.
ADCRR-Tucson-Santa Rita operates as one of six inner detention pods within the Tucson state prison complex, serving as a medium-security custody facility for adult males convicted of State offenses and sentenced to ADCRR time.
Work Programs at ADCRR-Tucson include approximately 28 inmates engaged in off-complex work crews. Additionally, two onsite call centers employ 78 inmates, while Arizona Department of Transportation crews conduct off-site trimming and cleaning. Two wildland fire crews assist with brush abatement, and a work crew at Kartchner Caverns State Park in Benson contributes to various maintenance tasks.
Each unit receives a Work Incentive Pay Plan (WIPP) budget, enabling over 1,900 inmates to work in roles ranging from labor to skilled positions. Inmates may also split their time between work and vocational education classes, earning WIPP wages accordingly. The Arizona Correctional Industries Sign Shop at ASPC-Tucson employs up to 26 inmates, offering them an average wage of $0.65 per hour.
In terms of Education Programs, approximately 30% of ASPC-Tucson inmates participate in some form of education, including High School, GED, and Mandatory Literacy. Career and Technical Education (CTE) courses encompass Automotive, Computers, Construction, Electrical, and HVAC fields. Distance learning and Closed-Circuit Television (CCTV) programs are also available.
ADCRR-Santa Rita Unit Treatment Programs cater to various needs, including Alcoholics Anonymous, Narcotics Anonymous, Pre-Release Planning, Merging Two Worlds, Thinking For A Change, Yoga, Stress Management, Residential Substance Abuse Treatment (RSAT), Pima Community College classes (HVAC, Automotive, Construction), Various Religious Services, and Meditation.
