The Christian County MO Jail is a detention center located at 110 W Elm St Ozark, MO which is operated locally by the Christian County Sheriff's Office and holds inmates awaiting trial or sentencing or both. Most of the sentenced inmates are here for less than two years. Christian County accepts inmates from surrounding towns, Ozark Police Department, and the US Marshal's Service.
New detainees arrive at the jail regularly, with some being released on bail, placed under pretrial services caseloads, supervised by probation agencies, or released on recognizance with a court appearance agreement. INCOMING MAIL:
NOTE: You are allowed a total of 10 letters and/or cards. The total amount will not exceed 10 and total picture limits will not exceed 5 unless the Prisoner has a photo album. All amounts above these limits will be mailed out at the Prisoners cost or disposed of.
MAIL LIMITATION:
Mail will not be delivered on the weekends.
Letters that contain the following items will be returned to the sender:
NOTE: Pornographic photographs are not allowed. Exchanges of photographs in the Prisoner’s possession with those in his or her property will not be allowed.
A. CARDS– May be no larger than 6X9 inches in size, non-pornographic, non-padded, and non-musical. Additionally, cards that have been folded over and glued together, whether by the manufacturer or sender, are not allowed. Cards, like photographs, are not to be affixed to the walls or furniture. Violations will result in the confiscation of the cards. Excessive amounts of cards (5 or more) will be mailed out by the Prisoner or you will be required to dispose of all cards over this amount.
B. MAGAZINES– Are accepted only when it is on a subscription basis and is mailed directly from the publisher. They will be given to the Prisoner on an exchange basis only. The Prisoner will have to surrender the previous issue of the magazine prior to receiving the new issue. Magazines will be stored in property bins. After the Prisoner has surrendered the previous issue it will be placed in the Prisoner property or may be destroyed at the Prisoner’s request. No pornographic magazines will be accepted. Note: only one magazine subscription at a time.
C. NEWSPAPERS– are accepted only on a subscription basis mailed directly from the publisher. They may be given to the Prisoner on an exchange basis only. The Prisoner must surrender the previous issue before receiving the new issue. Prisoners subscribing to a 7 day a week newspaper results in the receipt of 3 papers on Monday. They will be required to surrender 3 newspapers on Tuesday prior to receiving a new issue on Tuesday. Accumulation of newspapers in the cell block areas will not be allowed. Following the exchange, the old newspaper will be disposed of. Note: only one newspaper subscription at a time.
D. BOOKS– Are accepted only if they are soft back books and that are mailed directly from the publisher. You may only have 3 books at a time in your cell. If you receive a new book and you already have 3 in your cell, you will be required to surrender one book to receive the new one. Excess books will be placed in the Prisoners property bin. If the Prisoners property bin becomes too full, the Prisoner will be required to release property or dispose of some, as we are not a storage building.
E. Magazines– Any magazines, newspapers, or books found in the possession of a Prisoner other than the Prisoner who has subscribed or ordered will be considered contraband and will be confiscated.
Pornographic material will not be accepted under any circumstances.
NOTE: The U.S. Postal Service will not return magazines and newspapers to the sender in the absence of the Prisoner. It is entirely the responsibility of the Prisoner to notify the publisher of his or her change of address or desire to cancel the subscription. The Jail will not be responsible whatsoever for a former Prisoner’s loss due to the Prisoner’s failure to notify a publisher of his/her release from our custody.
DEPARTMENT OF CORRECTIONS TRANSFER
DOC TRANSFER NOTIFICATION:
A. Prisoners sentenced to the Department of Corrections (DOC) will need to notify friends/family to pick up their personal property. No notification will be made to the Prisoner prior to transport.
B. No property will be held for friends/family to pick-up at a later time. If it is not released prior to your being transported, it will remain here for 30 days and then be disposed of.
C. Once you are sentenced, it is Your Responsibility to Release Your Property. You will receive no notification of when you will be transported. You will receive no notification from Jail Staff that you need to release your property.
NOTE: Property will not be held at the Jail for release to family/significant others after you are gone longer than 30 days. All property will be transported with you. Any property that is still here after 30 days will be disposed of.

Required Dress Code, On sight and from remote locations.
Clothing should not be tight, transparent or revealing. It should not display gang, racial, inappropriate or inflammatory language or symbols. Skirts, dresses, and shorts may be no shorter than two inches above the top of the kneecap. Wrap-around or slit skirts or dresses are not permitted. Holes or slits are not permitted in pants. Shirts, blouses, and tops must cover the chest and stomach and have sleeves that cover the shoulders, without display of cleavage or midriff. Appropriate undergarments and shoes must be worn at all times. No headwear is allowed except for verified religious.
Restrictions on Visiting Privileges
Visiting an inmate is a privilege that can be limited or suspended. Failure to follow visiting rules, such as unacceptable language, improper dress, presenting risk to the safety and security of the facility, staff, offenders or visitors, participation in illegal activities and/or violations of Missouri law, may result in having visiting privileges suspended, being barred from the facility, or being placed on non-contact visiting status. If visiting sanctions are imposed on a visitor, you may appeal visiting restrictions in writing to the Captain of Corrections at 110 West Elm, rm70 Ozark Mo 65721.
Allowed Items at Visit
Gum, wallets, purses, cell phones, food, drinks, and other items may not be brought to visits. Missouri State Statute 217.360 states that it is a criminal offense for any individual entering a correctional facility to bring in drugs, alcoholic beverages, any article an offender is not permitted to possess or firearm that may be used to endanger the safety and security of the facility, staff or other offenders. Doing so may be a felony and can carry a punishment of up to 15 years in prison. It is important to remember that when visiting you are required to abide by the facility rules and regulations. When you enter prison grounds, you, your packages, your children and your vehicle are subject to search. It is requested you bring only necessary items and secure the rest in your vehicle.
When you bring a small infant or child, it is important that you maintain direct control of your children at all times to ensure their safety and to prevent interruption of other visits. If children are unruly or disruptive, the visit may be terminated.

Attorney Visits will primarily be conducted on the second floor, behind Judge Johnson’s Courtroom in the hallway visitation rooms. Two rooms have been cleared of all items except for chairs and a desk.

If you wish to receive a phone call from your client, you may call and leave a message with the booking desk. Your message should consist only of your phone number and name.
Security Measures:
Lock Down Procedures: During lockdown procedures; all attorneys will be asked to end the visit and leave the building.
Electronic Devices: No cell phones or electronic devices will be permitted into any visitation room unless used for the purpose of the visit.
Prohibited Items: There will never be any weapons, knives, fingernail files, fingernail clippers, mace or any other items used as a weapon permitted into the facility. Further items not allowed into the facility are chewing gum, tobacco products, and lighters.
Photography: Photographs of the facility are strictly forbidden and a security violation. If you have been found of taking photographs in/of the facility, your phone may be confiscated, and your further access denied.
