The Custer Co Jail is a detention center located at 300 N 7th Ave Arapaho, OK which is operated locally by the Custer County Sheriff's Office and holds inmates awaiting trial or sentencing or both. Most of the sentenced inmates are here for less than two years. Custer County accepts inmates from surrounding towns, Arapaho Police Department, and the US Marshal's Service.

New detainees arrive at the jail regularly, with some being released on bail, placed under pretrial services caseloads, supervised by probation agencies, or released on recognizance with a court appearance agreement. Those who are not released await their court appearances at the jail, receiving accommodations including bedding and meals. You can see all the arrest records for Oklahoma here.

The current jail was built in 1984 when the courthouse was renovated. This jail was constructed with 32 beds. Since then, an additional 12 beds were constructed within the original space for a total of 44 beds. Over the last 20 years, the jail population continued to grow without the jail getting bigger to accommodate that growth. In the last 10 years, the daily population constantly reached 80 inmates. With no room to house these inmates properly and being unable to comply with state and federal regulations regarding the housing of these inmates, it was evident that a new jail would have to build.

The Board of County Commissioners approved to put this before a vote of the people. The Board of County Commissioners, Along with Sheriff Mike Burgess, started the daunting task of educating the voters of Custer County of the need for a new jail. These officials talked with many voters and civic groups in order to get the message out that a new jail was needed. Many hours of hard work were put in by these officials in order that the public is informed of the need for a new jail.

The new Detention & Law Enforcement Center will be located directly north-west of the present courthouse on property purchased by the County for the purpose of constructing a new jail.

Money can be added to an inmates account via the Internet at tigerdeposits.com. Tiger Commissary accepts debit or credit cards, Visa, MasterCard, and Discover. You may also send money orders; please make it out to CCSO FBO (Inmate's Name).
