The Los Alamos Co Jail is a detention center located at 2500 Trinity Dr Los Alamos, NM which is operated locally by the Los Alamos County Sheriff's Office and holds inmates awaiting trial or sentencing or both. Most of the sentenced inmates are here for less than two years. Los Alamos County accepts inmates from surrounding towns, Los Alamos Police Department, and the US Marshal's Service.

New detainees arrive at the jail regularly, with some being released on bail, placed under pretrial services caseloads, supervised by probation agencies, or released on recognizance with a court appearance agreement. Those who are not released await their court appearances at the jail, receiving accommodations including bedding and meals. You can see all the arrest records for New Mexico here.

The facility is designed for the safety and well being of both inmates and detention officers. The movement and management of inmates takes place in a master control center area where detention officers conduct video, audio and visual monitoring of inmates and all jail activities through state of the art electronic security access systems. The master control center officers are also responsible for monitoring all of the internal and external security systems for the detention center, the police station, and the new court complex.

Three nutritious meals are prepared daily in the detention center, lowering meal cost by approximately 50% as compared to previous food service contract rates.

The Los Alamos Police Department Detention Center manages the intake, care, containment, transportation, and release of inmates. The detention center is staffed by 16 full-time detention officers.
