Riverview Correctional Facility, situated in St. Lawrence County, is a medium-security state prison operated by the New York State Department of Corrections and Community Supervision. Initially established in 1988 with a capacity for 700 inmates, Riverview, alongside Cape Vincent Correctional Facility, was constructed under a special agreement between New York City and the state, with both facilities resembling state-built ones like Bare Hill and Franklin. Riverview currently operates with a working capacity of 882, with ownership expected to revert to the state after seven years of operation.
At Riverview CF, inmates have access to treatment programs tailored for sex offenders and individuals grappling with substance abuse issues. Moreover, the facility offers vocational classes aimed at equipping inmates with practical skills for future employment opportunities. The vocational training curriculum at Riverview includes business, electrical work, flooring, horticulture, printing, maintenance, masonry, small engine repair, and welding. These programs aim to facilitate successful reintegration into society upon release by providing inmates with valuable skill sets.
Riverview Correctional Facility maintains a database of current inmates and their locations within the system. To locate an inmate, begin by using the DOC locator tool, which requires entering the first three letters of the inmate's first and last name, allowing for variations in spelling.
