The Chesterfield County VA Jail is a low/medium-security detention center located at 6900 Mimms Drive Chesterfield, VA which is operated locally by the Chesterfield County Sheriff's Office and holds inmates awaiting trial or sentencing or both. Most of the sentenced inmates are here for less than two years. Chesterfield County accepts inmates from surrounding towns, Chesterfield Police Department, and the US Marshal's Service.

New detainees arrive at the jail regularly, with some being released on bail, placed under pretrial services caseloads, supervised by probation agencies, or released on recognizance with a court appearance agreement. Visitation Information

Visitation hours are Monday – Thursday 8:30 a.m. – 11 a.m. and 5:30 p.m. – 8 p.m. All visits are 30 minutes long and a maximum of three people at a time may visit. Visitors are required to show a valid picture ID and an adult must accompany anyone under the age of 18. Out-of-Town Visits-must be pre-approved by a Jail Supervisor. If approved, you must produce a valid picture ID, and there is a four-person maximum. To be pre-approved, please call (804) 748-1829 or (804) 768-7327.
