The Abingdon PD operates as a short-term police lock-up situated at 425 W. Main St. in Abingdon, VA. Primarily serving as the holding facility for the local Police Department and agencies within the judicial district of Washington County, these locally operated police jails temporarily house inmates awaiting transfer to the Washington County Jail or other jurisdictions.

Following the transfer, offenders proceed to the county jail for arraignment and the reading of charges before a magistrate, where bail determinations are made. For more detailed inmate information, individuals can contact the booking department at 276-628-3111 or access the latest arrest records.

As a temporary holding facility, the Abingdon PD does not provide commissary, visitation, incoming mail, or telephone call services, as offenders typically spend no longer than 48-72 hours here before transfer. For such services, individuals are encouraged to utilize the free Washington County Jail inmate search tool.
