The Delaware County IN Juvenile Detention Center is a medium to low-security detention center located at 3700 W Kilgore Ave Muncie, IN that is operated locally by the Juvenile Justice Department and holds youths awaiting the determination of punishment for the crimes which they are accused. Most of the adolescents are here for less than two years.

he Juvenile Detention Center is licensed by the Department of Corrections, accredited through the Council on Accreditation (COA), and utilizes Performance-based Standards (PbS) to ensure the highest quality practices and most effective research-based services are offered to all youth placed within the facility. Juveniles may be placed twenty-four hours a day, seven days a week, as authorized by Juvenile Probation or the juvenile courts.

Moderate-High Risk; Secure Correctional Facility; Males and Females (Ages 12-18)

The Delaware County Juvenile Detention Center is managed and operated by the Youth Opportunity Center, Inc. The Detention Center serves youth have committed delinquent acts and are placed under the jurisdiction of juvenile probation department and courts. The Delaware County Juvenile Detention Center is a co-ed facility, however, populations do not integrate within the daily schedule. The Detention Center combines a rigid daily schedule that sets high behavior expectations for each delinquent youth. This structured program incorporates clear daily expectations in a positive, respectful approach by the professionally trained staff.

The Juvenile Detention Center provides a safe, secure environment where juveniles are provided a variety of services including:

  • Pre-adjudication placements
  • Post-adjudication placements with individual and family counseling
  • Highly structured programming and behavior modification
  • Access to medical personnel and mental health professionals
  • Spiritual services
  • Indiana State licensed teacher
  • High school equivalency (HSE) preparatory materials
  • Psychiatric consultation as needed
  • Secure transportation services are also available
