When someone you care about gets locked up, it's tough to figure out all the ins and outs of jail life. From sending mail to visiting, there are a lot of things to sort out. And getting info about the arrest? Not always easy. That's where this webpage comes in handy. It's here to help you get a handle on how things work here so that you can stay connected and support your loved one behind bars.

The Elmore Co Jail is a detention center located at 2255 E 8th St - PO Box 665 North Mountain Home, ID which is operated locally by the Elmore County Sheriff's Office and holds inmates awaiting trial or sentencing or both. Most of the sentenced inmates are here for less than two years. Elmore County accepts inmates from surrounding towns, North Mountain Home Police Department, and the US Marshal's Service.

New detainees arrive at the jail regularly, with some being released on bail, placed under pretrial services caseloads, supervised by probation agencies, or released on recognizance with a court appearance agreement. Those who are not released await their court appearances at the jail, receiving accommodations including bedding and meals. You can see all the arrest records for Idaho here.

If you wish to post a bond for an inmate, you have two options: contacting a bond agent or paying the bond in cash. If you opt for a bond agent, they will discuss their requirements and fees with you directly. Alternatively, if you choose to post a cash bond, you must provide the entire amount in exact change.

It's important to note that a $10 Sheriff’s Bond fee is attached to each bond, which must be paid separately in exact change. Please be aware that the detention staff does not keep change to break bonds or the Sheriff’s fee.

However, posting a cash bond does not resolve the charges or fines against the inmate. It serves as collateral or a guarantee that the inmate will appear in court as scheduled. If the inmate fails to appear, your cash bond will be forfeited, and an arrest warrant will be issued.

After the case is resolved in court, the cash bond may be applied as payment for costs and fines incurred. Idaho Code Sec. 19-2923 authorizes the court to apply the cash bond towards fines and costs resulting from the criminal case filed against the inmate.

Inmate Release: Upon receiving paperwork for a posted bond or a court order for release, detention staff will begin processing the inmate for release. This process may take some time, and all released inmates will be directed to meet their bonding party in the jail lobby.

Property Pick Up: Inmates can release personal property to family and friends by filling out a property release form. Deputies will only release property to individuals listed on the form, and positive identification is required.

Work Release: Eligibility for work release is contingent upon court approval and current employment status. Work release participants may be released each working day, with approval from the Jail Commander, to go to work and must return to jail afterward. A fee is applicable for work release, and participants must adhere to program rules and regulations, including maintaining employment within Elmore County boundaries.
