The FCI-Hazelton-SFF is a federal prison located at 1640 Sky View Dr in Bruceton Mills, WV. This federal medium security prison is operated by the Federal Bureau of Prisons (BOP) to hold inmates who have been convicted to and sentenced for a federal crime through the US Department of Justice (DOJ).

The Federal Correctional Institution, Hazelton Secure Female Facility (FCI Hazelton SFF) is a high-security United States federal prison for female inmates. It is the newest facility in the federal prison system and is operated by the Federal Bureau of Prisons, a division of the US Department of Justice.

FCI Hazelton has a Secure Housing Unit for inmates who are considered dangerous due to previous acts of violence inside the facility, such as assaults on staff or other inmates, as well as for inmates who engage in repeated rule violations.

The facility is located in Preston County, West Virginia, several miles east of Bruceton Mills, less than two miles west of the Maryland border.

Housing - SFF Hazelton is a High-Security Female Federal Prison adjacent to FCI Hazelton. SFF Inmates are housed in dormitory style units and cell blocks with 2 person bunkbeds. Storage space in most units consists of an individual locker. Locks may be purchased in the institution commissary. The amount of personal property allowed is limited to those items, which can be safely placed in the space designated.

Vocational Training - The facility has programs which includes building trades such as Carpentry, Dry Wall, Electrical, HVAC, Masonry, Plumbing, and Welding, Culinary Arts, Graphic Arts, and Microsoft Office.

Health Services - Health services at FCI Hazelton Secure Female Facility facilities include episodic visits for new or recurring medical or dental symptoms through a sick call system, chronic care management for chronic and infectious diseases through enrollment in chronic care clinics for regular care, routine dental care, medical and dental emergency care for injuries and sudden illness, age-appropriate preventive care to promote optimal health and functional status, restorative care to promote achievable functional status, long-term care, and end-of-life care.

Residential Drug Abuse Program (RDAP) - A Residential Drug Abuse Program (RDAP) is available at FCI Hazelton but not at the Secure Female Facility, check with the list of available facilities that will allow a referral and transfer. Alcoholics Anonymous (AA), Narcotics Anonymous (NA), the Non-Residential Drug Abuse Treatment Program (NR-DAP), and the Drug Education Class are available at both facilities.

Religion - There are facilities for worship services, prayer and study areas, offices, and a religious library. SFF Hazelton provides services and programs to Christian, Jewish and Muslim inmates. Volunteers from the cities of Hazelton, Brandonville, and Brewster Mills help orchestrate services for other religious groups. Inmates can wear religious items, and the facilities observe different holy days and also accommodate to any dietary restrictions for various faiths.

Medical - All emergencies, acute illnesses or injuries will be attended to as they occur. There is a $2.00 co-pay for each non-emergency visit. Outside emergency medical care is available for those cases beyond the scope of the Camp Health Services Unit. SFF Hazelton has a full-time medical staff on hand and/or contract medical workers from nearby cities.

SFF Hazelton provides care for inmates who may experience any medical emergencies. In the event institution staff is unable to care for an inmate’s medical needs, inmates may be sent to Ruby Memorial Hospital in Morgantown or Preston Memorial Hospital in Kingwood for additional medical care.

Jobs - SFF Hazelton inmates work positions that involve working in food, carpentry, electric, heating, ventilation & air conditioning, landscape, paint, plumbing, utility, and general maintenance.

Education - SFF Hazelton inmates without a high school diploma or General Educational Development Credential (GED) must attend the BOP Inmate Literacy Program to obtain their GED. SFF Hazelton inmates who are non-English speaking must take the (ESL) English As A Second Language Inmate Program.

Covid Visitation Information

We remind all visitors to carefully review our special visiting procedures during the COVID pandemic, and also remind all visitors to observe applicable state and local COVID travel restrictions in planning your visit to the institution.

Please call 304-379-1500 prior to your visit to get the latest updates, time changes or visitation cancellations.

All visitors will be temperature checked with results annotated at the screening site prior to entrance. All staff working the screening site will be in proper Personal Protective Equipment (PPE). Visitors will be in-processed on a first come first serve basis, adhering to social-distancing requirements. If distancing requirements cannot be met, visitors may be asked to wait outside for systematic in-processing to adhere to social distancing guidelines. Inmates on quarantine or isolation status will not be permitted visits - it will be the visitor's responsibility to check with the institution prior to arrival to ensure the scheduled visit can still take place.

The visiting room is designed to maximize social distancing, with a minimum of six feet between persons. Inmates are permitted two visitors per visit. To ensure equal opportunities, the frequency of visits determines any termination. Appropriate face coverings are mandatory for all inmates and visitors, all visitors wearing a mask will be provided one by the institution, theirs will be secured in the lockers in the lobby. No physical contact, photographs, food, or drink is permitted. A hand hygiene station, including alcohol-based hand sanitizer, is available at all visiting entrances and exits. Orderlies are assigned to each visitation room and will continually sanitize all touch surfaces, restrooms, etc.
