Columbus Youth Academy is for State Juvenile offenders have not been sentenced yet and are detained here until their case is heard.

The Columbus Youth Academy offers a non-secure residential commitment program catering to up to 50 males, aged up to 19, with adjudicated sex offenses. The program provides individual, family, and group therapy tailored to each youth's treatment needs. A psychiatrist evaluates each youth upon admission for medication management, with monthly follow-up evaluations as needed.

The length of stay varies based on the youth's progress in completing their individualized treatment plan and goals. In terms of education, the academy offers English, Math, Science, Social Studies, and Reading, along with career and technical opportunities in Culinary Arts. Educational services are provided by the Hillsborough County School District.
