St. Johns Juvenile is for State Juvenile offenders have not been sentenced yet and are detained here until their case is heard.

The St. Augustine Youth Academy is a State-owned Residential Facility that caters to male offenders aged between 14 and 21, focusing on high-risk and maximum-risk cases. Emphasizing mental health and substance abuse treatment, the program offers Mental Health Overlay Services (MHOS) and employs evidence-based cognitive-behavioral techniques.

Comprehensive services include on-site mental health, substance abuse, case management, and psychiatric support. The duration of stay varies based on individual progress in meeting treatment objectives.

Academically, the academy offers English, Math, Science, Social Studies, and one elective course, often utilized for reading assistance or vocational training. Educational and vocational services are coordinated with the St. Johns County School District, with vocational opportunities including Work Keys Certification. Additionally, the academy serves as a GED® test site.

Operated by Youth Opportunity Investments, the St. Augustine Youth Academy is committed to providing holistic support to its young residents, aiding in their rehabilitation and successful reintegration into society.
