Can a pregnant girlfriend visit a juvenile inmate
My boyfriend is in a juvenille facility and I'm not allowed to visit him because I am not blood related or "close family" but am I allowed to visit him if I am pregnant with his child ?
In most juvenile facilities, the answer is still no, even if you are pregnant with his child.
Juvenile systems have much stricter visitation rules than adult facilities. They usually limit visits to:
- Parents or legal guardians
- Immediate family members
- Approved individuals with a clear legal or custodial connection
Being pregnant does not automatically qualify you as “family” under their rules.
That said, you do have a small window to try:
Ask the facility directly
Call and speak with:
- The case manager
- Counselor
- Or chaplain
Explain your situation respectfully and ask if there is any exception process or special approval you can apply for.
Possible options they may consider:
- Adding you as an approved visitor under special circumstances
- Allowing a supervised or one time visit
- Setting up phone or video contact if in person is not allowed
There are no guarantees, but how you approach them matters. Being calm, respectful, and clear about your situation gives you the best chance.
If visitation is denied:
You can still stay connected through:
- Letters
- Phone calls if allowed
- Video visitation if the facility offers it
Bottom line
Pregnancy alone usually does not override juvenile visitation rules, but it is worth asking the facility if any exception can be made.
