Program Description: At Adams State College we know how important education is to all individuals, especially for those who happen to be incarcerated. For over nine years Adams State College has worked extensively inside Colorado prisons offering on-site face-to face courses. During this time we have also worked with thousands of prisoners throughout the United States by helping them obtain their dream of a college education. ASC is committed to addressing the specific needs of incarcerated students by offering the following benefits:

    • Quality- All degrees are accredited by The Higher Learning Commission of the North Central Association of Colleges and Schools. School of Business is recognized as a Program of Excellence by the Colorado Commission on Higher Education and Sociology graduates are employable in a variety of human services fields.
    • Availability- Full degrees are available through correspondence delivery.
    • Affordability- Tuition for correspondence courses is $165 per semester hour with the same low rate of tuition for both Colorado and non-Colorado residents. In addition, the application fee is waived for incarcerated students.
    • Support- Each student is assigned an advisor who is a single point of contact, available year round by toll-free telephone.
    • Transferability- ASC will accept up to 90 credit hours from any regionally accredited institution. Offers a FREE unofficial evaluation of credits before you apply.

Unique Features: Adams State College staff has worked with and in corrections for over 20 years and know and understand the difficulties one faces in obtaining an education while incarcerated. It is Adams State College’s goal to make the navigation of the college process as easy as possible, which is why its staff is always on call and offers unofficial degree plans for everyone who wants and requests one.

Correctional Facilities Served: In Colorado: Denver Women’s Correctional Facility, Canon Minimum Centers, Colorado Territorial Correctional Facility, and Camp George West.

Also has a print based distance degree program offering courses and degrees to incarcerated students throughout the United States.
