California Men's Colony (CMC) consists of two physically separate complexes known as "East Facility" and "West Facility." East Facility is a Level III complex comprising five independent facilities (A, B, C, D, and H). Facilities A through D house medium-security inmates and offer Enhanced Outpatient Program (EOP) and Correctional Clinical Case Management System (CCCMS) care for qualifying individuals. This facility also caters to inmates with developmental disabilities and those needing assistance with daily activities. Each facility includes two three-story housing units, with inmates housed in cells. Numerous classrooms, counseling offices, and vocational shops are available throughout East Facility to provide various educational and self-help programs. Additionally, East Facility houses a Correctional Treatment Center - Medical Unit, offering hospital-ward treatment for CDCR inmates statewide. Facility H is a separate 50-bed Mental Health Crisis Bed Unit providing round-the-clock mental health treatment and monitoring.

West Facility, on the other hand, is a Level I and II complex comprising four independent facilities (E, F, G, and M). It accommodates medium and minimum-security inmates in a dormitory setting, offering CCCMS care as needed. Facility M houses inmate firefighters who collaborate with Cal-Fire Captains to combat wildfires and respond to natural disasters. Facility G hosts the New Life K9 Program, which trains service dogs for first responders with PTSD and other disabilities. Inmates in West Facility have access to various educational and career/technical programs, as well as self-improvement initiatives like cognitive behavior therapy, substance abuse education, anger management, and family relationships courses.

CMC is dedicated to providing its inmate population with meaningful rehabilitative resources, aiming to equip them with the skills and support necessary for successful reintegration into society as law-abiding citizens.
