Davenport Work Release OWI Center - (WRC)

Custody/Security Info

The Davenport Work Release OWI Center - (WRC) is a work release center located in Davenport, IA. This re-entry facility works with the Iowa Department of Corrections integrating soon to be released inmates into society and the workplace. The minimum security detail is for inmates that get transported to a “day job” on the outside and come back to the facility in the evening. When an inmate makes it here, they are literally one-foot out the door. For many, this will be their last stop before freedom. They are comprised of non-secure dormitories which are bed checked and counted at night by correctional officers. The facilities have group toilets and shower areas adjacent to the sleeping quarters that contain double bunks and lockers. The facility has a no securing fence and is literally operating on a sort of honor system. There is less supervision and control over inmates in the dormitories and less supervision of inmate movement within the building than at any other incarceration level. The inmates are assigned to work in the general public at regular, approved jobs and generally pose the least risk to public safety.
