The Delaware Co Jail is a detention center located at 844 US Hwy 42 N Delaware, OH which is operated locally by the Delaware County Sheriff's Office and holds inmates awaiting trial or sentencing or both. Most of the sentenced inmates are here for less than two years. Delaware County accepts inmates from surrounding towns, Delaware Police Department, and the US Marshal's Service.

New detainees arrive at the jail regularly, with some being released on bail, placed under pretrial services caseloads, supervised by probation agencies, or released on recognizance with a court appearance agreement. Those who are not released await their court appearances at the jail, receiving accommodations including bedding and meals. You can see all the arrest records for Ohio here.

Initial Court Appearance

When an offender is arrested on new charges or a municipal court warrant, he/she will be seen in court the following business day via televised video arraignment (TVA). If you want to be present, you need to go to Municipal Court, 70 N. Union St., Delaware, 43015, 2nd floor. TVA schedule is as follows:

  • 9:30 a.m. Monday
  • 10:00 a.m. Tuesday – Friday.

If an inmate receives a warrant to discharge, the officers cannot release him/her until all the proper paperwork has been received by the jail. Generally, inmates are able to make a phone call to arrange for transportation at the time of their release. Please note, it takes some time for the court to clerk the decisions after the arraignment. The process can take up to four hours, based on the court’s caseload.
