The Duval Co Pre-Trial Jail is a detention center located at 500 E Adams St Jacksonville, FL which is operated locally by the Duval County Sheriff's Office and holds inmates awaiting trial or sentencing or both. Most of the sentenced inmates are here for less than two years. Duval County accepts inmates from surrounding towns, Jacksonville Police Department, and the US Marshal's Service.
New detainees arrive at the jail regularly, with some being released on bail, placed under pretrial services caseloads, supervised by probation agencies, or released on recognizance with a court appearance agreement. Those who are not released await their court appearances at the jail, receiving accommodations including bedding and meals. You can see all the arrest records for Florida here.
When an individual is arrested, they are brought to the Pre-Trial Detention Facility located in downtown Jacksonville directly behind the Police Memorial Building. This facility houses pre-trial, federal, juvenile, state, and county-sentenced inmates for processing, which includes property inventory, booking, medical screening, and cell assignment, which must be completed before the individual is considered for release or visitation. Intake processing and identification clearance are conducted as promptly as possible.
Upon being cleared for release, inmates are processed as quickly as possible. Sentenced inmates from prison are transported to the jail for release, while those from the Community Transition Center are released from that facility. Release times can vary across different institutions.
To place a cash bond, the full bond amount must be brought to the public reception area of the jail. Payment can be made by cash, certified or cashier's check (drawn on a local bank and subject to verification), or a United States Postal Money Order payable to the Office of the Sheriff. Alternatively, a bonding agency can post a surety bond instead of a cash bond. Bonding agencies can be found in phone books or through an Internet search, and officers are prohibited from advising on the selection of these agencies. The chosen bonding agency will handle the arrangements for the individual's release.
The Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office Department of Corrections now delivers incoming inmate personal mail electronically. All personal mail sent via the United States Postal Service (USPS) must be directed to the main inmate mail processing center. Once received at the Montgomery Correctional Center, the mail is scanned and uploaded into the inmate tablet system for viewing as a digital attachment. Legal mail is unaffected by this process and must continue to be mailed to the inmate's facility address. Authorized mail, such as magazine, newspaper, and periodical subscriptions, along with paperback books, must also be sent to the inmate's facility address. Only legal and personal letters, postcards, and reading materials are accepted through the mail.
Reading materials are restricted to magazines, newspapers, and other periodicals by subscription in the inmate's name, and paperback books must be mailed directly from Amazon, Books-A-Million, or Barnes & Noble. Hardback books are prohibited. Inmates are allowed to possess four periodicals and two paperback books; excess materials must be mailed out or will be disposed of as contraband.
Unauthorized items received through the mail will be considered contraband and the entire package can be confiscated and disposed of. This includes photographs or facsimiles, and computer-generated reading materials downloaded from the Internet. Items available for purchase through the commissary will also be confiscated if mailed in.
Most inmates are issued institutional uniforms, and personal clothing is not accepted unless the inmate is arrested without clothing. Deposits into an inmate's account can be made through Access Secure Deposits, providing multiple ways for family and friends to deposit funds. These deposits can be made online at www.inmatedeposits.com, via a toll-free telephone number, or through kiosks located in the lobby of the jail, prison, and Community Transition Center. The Department of Corrections does not accept cash, cashier’s checks, or money orders for deposit into inmate accounts by mail or in person.
Inmates without available funds are provided with basic health and comfort items and writing materials, with the cost debited to their account, resulting in a negative balance. Debts are collected whenever funds become available, including during future incarcerations up to three years.
For Work Furlough inmates at the Community Transition Center, authorized property can be delivered to the public reception area during regular operation hours. Money and property are not accepted during visitation hours, and items that can be purchased through commissary are also not accepted.

Friends and family can also use the Video Visitation Center located at 500 E. Adams Street, at no cost. It does not matter which facility the inmate is housed in to use this option. Each inmate can receive one visitor per week. Video Visitation Center visits are a maximum of two hours.
Visits can be scheduled up to 14 days in advance. ALL VISITS MUST BE SCHEDULED 24 HOURS IN ADVANCE. Visitors who schedule same day visits will be turned away.
