Lake City CI is a youthful adult male (18-24) state prison in Florida, housing up to 894 offenders and providing various programs aimed at rehabilitation and personal development under the oversight of the Florida Department of Corrections.

The Extended Day Program was established in response to Chapter 958, Florida Statutes, mandating enhanced program services for youthful offenders. This 16-hour daytime program, offered at all youthful offender institutions, includes at least 12 hours of activities such as work assignments, education (including vocational and academic programs), counseling, behavior modification, military-style drills, systematic discipline, and other opportunities aimed at reducing inmate idleness and increasing the chances of successful re-entry into the community as law-abiding citizens.

Academic Programs at Lake City CI include Adult Basic Education, General Educational Development (GED), and the Volunteer Literacy Program, which aim to enhance inmates' literacy and educational attainment.

Vocational Programs offered at the facility include Barbering, Commercial Foods and Culinary Arts, Environmental Services, HVAC, and Tile Setting, providing inmates with practical skills for future employment opportunities.

Substance Abuse Programs address addiction issues and include the Residential Therapeutic Community and Substance Abuse Prevention/Education, offering counseling and support for inmates struggling with substance abuse.

Regular visiting is held on Saturdays and Sundays from 9:00 a.m. through 3:00 p.m. Eastern Standard Time (8:00 a.m. through 2:00 p.m. Central Standard Time). Registration begins at 8:15 a.m. (7:15 a.m. CST) on both days. Visitors will not be processed after 2:00 p.m. (1:00 p.m. CST) unless authorized by the duty warden. Visitors will be allowed to park in designated spaces no earlier than 7:30 a.m. EST and 6:30 a.m. CST on visiting days.
Can I visit on a holiday? Regular visiting is permitted on the following holidays:

Birthday of Martin Luther King, Jr. (third Monday in January)
Memorial Day
Independence Day
Labor Day
Veteran's Day (November 11th)
Thanksgiving Day
Friday after Thanksgiving; and
Christmas Day
If any of the holidays listed above falls on Saturday, the preceding Friday will be observed as a holiday. If any of these holidays fall on Sunday, then the following Monday will be observed as the holiday.
