Located at 2500 Rte 99 S in Mount Sterling, IL, Western IL Correctional carefully assigns inmates based on their custody level, considering factors like criminal history. Western IL Correctional offers diverse educational and vocational programs aimed at equipping offenders for successful reintegration into society and reducing recidivism. Through these initiatives, inmates gain skills and confidence, fostering personal growth and resilience.
Western Illinois Correctional Center aligns with the Illinois Department of Corrections' mission to protect the public, securely segregate offenders, uphold constitutional rights, and enhance reentry success. Housing general population inmates, the center encompasses 21 buildings within a 32-acre perimeter. These structures include housing units, administration, health care, receiving, segregation, dietary, a warehouse, a maintenance complex, a multi-purpose building with academic and vocational facilities, and a meat processing plant. The center offers diverse inmate programs, ranging from academic initiatives like Adult Basic Education (ABE) to vocational training in automotive technology, construction occupations, and horticulture. Industries within the center include meat processing. In addition, the facility provides volunteer services, substance abuse education, anger management, and various recreational activities, emphasizing a holistic approach to rehabilitation. The inclusion of chaplaincy, library services, community work crews, and individual counseling further supports the comprehensive inmate programs at Western Illinois Correctional Center. Video Visitation Hours
Video visitation hours are Sunday through Saturday 9:00a to 12:30p and 2:00p to 5:30p. Visitors should log on 15 minutes prior to the scheduled start time.
