The Loudoun County Juvenile Detention Center (JDC) is a medium to low-security detention center located at 42020 Loudoun Center Pl Leesburg, VA that is operated locally by the Juvenile Justice Department and holds youths awaiting the determination of punishment for the crimes which they are accused. Most of the adolescents are here for less than two years.
The Loudoun JDC is a secure facility tasked with providing pre- and post-dispositional detention for youth under orders from the Juvenile and Domestic Relations Court. Operating within a safe, secure, and humane environment, the JDC prioritizes policies, programs, and an atmosphere conducive to good mental and physical health.
For youth requiring medication, prior approval from either their physician or the Juvenile Detention Center doctor is mandatory. All medication brought in must be in appropriate containers with the correct prescription label for acceptance.
Students enrolled in Greenway Academy receive 5 1/2 hours of education daily, covering subjects such as English, Math, Social Studies, Science, Health and PE, Music, Industry Certifications, SOL tests, and GED prep. Grades are forwarded to the student's base school and parent/guardian upon release. Queries regarding the educational program should be directed to the Dean at 703-771-5325.
Incoming calls to youth are prohibited, but they are granted two opportunities each week to call approved family members/legal guardians. Youths may use the telephone for business calls, such as contacting lawyers or probation officers. The Community Service Work Program operates as a public service project under the 1950 Code of Virginia, as amended. Community service work serves three primary purposes: providing a service to others, serving as a consequence for delinquent behavior, and potentially substituting more restrictive penalties with community service obligations.
Juvenile facilities overseen by Loudoun County do not publish the names of the offenders housed in their facility. As such, there is no public forum for this information.
