The MCSO-Estrella Jail is a detention center located at 2939 Durango St Phoenix, AZ which is operated locally by the Maricopa County Sheriff's Office and holds inmates awaiting trial or sentencing or both. Most of the sentenced inmates are here for less than two years. Maricopa County accepts inmates from surrounding towns, Phoenix Police Department, and the US Marshal's Service.

New detainees arrive at the jail regularly, with some being released on bail, placed under pretrial services caseloads, supervised by probation agencies, or released on recognizance with a court appearance agreement. Those who are not released await their court appearances at the jail, receiving accommodations including bedding and meals. You can see all the arrest records for Arizona here.

The Estrella Jail is a podular/dormitory designed facility that accommodates approximately 1,000 female inmates of all classifications in Maricopa County. This includes un-sentenced and sentenced inmates classified as minimum, medium, and maximum general population, as well as those in administrative restrictive housing, nature of charges (NOCs), disciplinary restrictive housing, administrative no-work, and closed-custody. Each housing area is equipped with general-purpose day rooms and bathroom/shower facilities, along with outdoor recreation areas.

The facility consists of five tower housing units and ten dormitories. Many of the sentenced female inmates engage in work assignments that aid jail operations and help build their skills. Estrella Jail offers various programs such as Choose to Change, Mosaic, and Girl Scouts Beyond Bars, aimed at providing positive development opportunities for the inmates.

Estrella Jail staff collaborate with Correctional Health Services, the Maricopa County Human Services Department, and the MCSO Custody Support Division to deliver inmate programming that supports the objectives of the Maricopa County Smart Justice Program.

The facility also features a fully staffed and equipped medical clinic, a non-denominational chapel for religious services, and three education classrooms where inmates can participate in educational programs, drug rehabilitation, and life-skills classes. This comprehensive approach ensures that inmates receive necessary healthcare, spiritual support, and opportunities for personal development.

Funds can be deposited into inmate accounts using TouchPay kiosks at the facility, which accept cash and Visa/Mastercard, with funds typically posted within an hour. A service fee is applied. Deposits can also be made via telephone at 1-866-355-9593, online at TouchPay Direct,All incoming inmate mail, including newspapers, magazines, and books, must be sent to the central mailroom at the Lower Buckeye Jail, regardless of the inmate's housing location.
