Located at 320 N Hubbard St in St. Louis, MI, STF carefully assigns inmates based on their custody level, considering factors like criminal history. STF offers diverse educational and vocational programs aimed at equipping offenders for successful reintegration into society and reducing recidivism. STF, a Secure Level I prison, occupies approximately 70 acres of land in the northeast section of St. Louis, Gratiot County. It comprises separate buildings dedicated to administration, food service, education/activity, warehouse/maintenance, prisoner housing, and transportation. With a capacity to house 2,560 secure Level I male prisoners, the facility boasts 16 separate housing units contained within eight buildings, each housing 160 prisoners in a dormitory-style setting.

Programming at Central Michigan Correctional is geared towards preparing prisoners for successful reintegration into society upon release. Psychological counseling and substance abuse treatment programs are offered to address underlying issues contributing to criminal behavior. Offender Success programming includes group sessions of Thinking for a Change, Michigan Domestic Violence Programming (MiDVP), Advanced Substance Abuse Treatment, Violence Prevention Program, job preparation workshops, family reunification initiatives, and other programs conducted by staff. Notably, the facility partners with Central Michigan University and Jackson College to provide prisoners with educational opportunities, including sociology classes and associate degree programs funded through Pell Grants.

Educational opportunities abound at Central Michigan Correctional Facility, encompassing academic and career technical education (CTE). Academic programming includes Adult Basic Education (ABE), General Educational Development (GED), English as a Second Language (ESL), Special Education, and Title I. Career Technical Education offerings feature Horticulture, Employment Readiness, and Building Trades programs, providing hands-on learning experiences and employability soft skills training. Students in the Building Trades program may obtain National Center for Construction Education and Research (NCCER) certification upon completion, while Employment Readiness program participants receive Microsoft Digital Literacy certification.

The facility emphasizes service-learning initiatives, encouraging prisoners to give back to the local community while acquiring valuable skills. Building Trades students engage in service projects, constructing wall panels, sheds, cabinets, countertops, and other items for local communities. Additionally, Central Michigan Correctional Facility cultivates thousands of pounds of vegetables annually, donated to local food banks.

Prisoners at Central Michigan Correctional Facility receive on-site routine medical and dental care, with serious medical issues addressed at the department's Duane L. Waters Health Care facility in Jackson, and emergencies referred to local hospitals.

Security measures at the facility are robust, with perimeter security comprising buffer fences, double chain link fences, razor-ribbon wire, electronic detection systems, and an armed patrol vehicle. These measures ensure the safety and security of both inmates and staff members, maintaining order within the facility.
